Our friends over at Saint James seem to be stepping up their game.
Indego Blue is a very cartoony, high concept kind of series. Not something I would usually be into, but something interesting none the less. It stars Blue, an anthropomorphic dog/man that is a covert operative for a group of mercenary-like secret agents. It reminds me bit of the Batman Beyond or Spiderman Unlimited cartoons of the 90s that had large subplots of "spliced human beings" and "genetic rights".
Of course, here Indego Blue has a slightly more offbeat tone to it. It works, at least to a greater effect than the aforementioned Spidey cartoon, which had no real danger to it, yet took itself way too seriously. Indego Blue is something that would work well as a cartoon on Adult Swim. It has that serious action, yet goofy kind of plot formula that could be a major draw. It just needs a tad more humor to accent the art, which I really enjoy.
It looks like the creators over at Saint James have gotten a little closer to the mark with this new series. Indego Blue works as a fun, quirky comic book to wet your taste buds during a time when the mainstream comic industry is plagued by truckloads of Dark Reigns and Blackest Nights.
