In the previous issues, Green Lantern Guy Gardner watched the Green Lantern homeworld Oa ravaged by the undead Black Lanterns and his friend Kyle Rayner killed in battle. Because of this, a Red Lantern ring latched itself on to him. Now, Gardner has been infected with a red ring and he has become a rage filled Red Lantern. And the planet sized Green Lantern Mogo, saved the day.
This issue was basically a nice character driven left turn from the “Blackest Night” events.
As has been said in the past, writer Peter Tomasi was amazing. He really weaved a story with Gardner still being the arrogant man we love, but also not quite as overbearing as he was in his “Justice League International” days.
While this is setting up the final battle in the main “Blackest Night” titles, this was still a lot of fun.
This issue was worth the cover price.
